Upper Canada Village (Morrisburg)

Touring Upper Canada Village is a magical experience, transporting you back in time to the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings that make up the village, the activities that each housed, and of course, the people who lived there. Founded in 1961, Upper Canada Village is one of the largest living-history sites in Canada. Here, we endeavor to depict life in a rural English Canadian setting during the year 1866. Featured are over forty historical buildings, many moved here prior to flooding of the “Lost Villages” during the St. Lawrence Seaway development project. These include homes, functioning mills and trades workshops. For more information about Upper Canada Village, visit their site at Upper Canada Village.

Willard’s Hotel
Willard’s Hotel is one of the oldest buildings on the site. It was constructed in the late 1790s and restored to the style of the 1850s. Daniel Myers, son of the earliest owner Jacob Myers, took out a tavern license in 1815. The building was later bought by John Willard in 1830.

Today, the hotel is a full-service restaurant where costumed staff will serve you a period-style meal such as rarebit, or the Victorian tradition of afternoon tea. The hotel is open to visitors who wish to purchase a traditional meal, such as roast meat, potatoes, vegetables and (in season) home-baked apple pie or enjoy the light or traditional teas with a small assortment of finger foods between 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Seating indoors holds 92 and the Hotel is licensed to serve beer and wine.
